Born of another time and dimension, Thunder Chicken is the greatest young warrior for the world of Terra-Aves possessing the powers of flight, unmatched strength, near immortality, and flesh impervious to almost any attack. This world was much like our Earth two thousand years ago; although, rather than humans, bird life triumphed as the dominant species gaining intelligence and developing a civilization that, in time, may have rivaled our own.
Armed with his famed weapon and dimension splitter, the OmniEgg, Thunder Chicken was the ultimate do-gooder. He wandered his realm of Roostoria protecting the innocent and maintaining justice. His sense of ultimate goodness, aura of perfection, and reputation as the greatest warrior of Terra-Aves, at times, tended to rub even his closest allies the wrong way. It seemed he could do no wrong which prompted jealousy and the occasional quarrel with his peers.
A fragile peace was maintained until a whimsical darkness was cast on Terra-Aves at the mischievous hands of ORI, the self-proclaimed Lord of the Nowhere. While ORI's armies carried out an unmerciful attack, Thunder Chicken, with the use of the OmniEgg, was sent to confront the dimension-jumping ORI head on. As fate would have it, Thunder Chicken encountered more than he could have imagined upon catching up to Lord ORI.
Two other beings had made their way to the Nowhere, and they were locked in a violent battle. ORI antagonized the two as if he were toying with them. He actually seemed to enjoy it as if it were a game. Thunder Chicken launched himself, egg-first, toward ORI hoping to catch him off guard. Little did he realize he put himself on a path which would end with him being struck by the powers of all three combatants. The combination of these powers, and that of the OmniEgg, inexplicably sent Thunder Chicken hurtling through dimensions with the final destination being our Earth. Now, with a cracked egg, Thunder Chicken is trapped in our dimension, on our world. He continues to do the only thing he knows in protecting the innocent while constantly struggling to find a way back to his own time and place so that he can finish the job of thwarting ORI and ensuring peace for bird-kind.
Millions of years ago, an extra-terrestrial explorer was sent to the planet Earth on an information-gathering expedition. This alien civilization had technologically advanced to the point in which the occupants of their single-passenger exploration pods were altered and enhanced upon arrival to ensure their safety and protection by scanning the surrounding environment and adjusting accordingly. At the time of this particular mission was this planet's time of dinosaurs and the pod was caught in the jaws of one of the giant beasts as it approached for landing. The pod crashed ejecting the alien explorer who unfortunately failed to survive the ordeal. The pod was eventually covered over and came to rest at the bottom of a murky bog.
Millions of years later, and several days after an earthquake rocked the region, a common duck was shot twice in mid-flight by hunters. The duck's near lifeless body hit the shallow mud-covered lake below and sank to the bottom. By incomprehensible chance, this simple creature made its way through a crevasse which had opened due to the earthquake and came to rest in the seat of the exploration pod that had been inactive for millions of years within the Earth's crust. Sensing the explorer had returned, the pod began its health scan, alterations and enhancements based on its most recent scan of a dinosaur-populated world. The duck was restored to a healthy state and its body was altered and enhanced to survive in a land of savage giants.
Regaining consciousness, this everyday duck now has the ability and, with a rewired alien brain, the intelligence to become one of the greatest heroes of our day... WonderDuck!
Hailing from the world of Terra-Aves, Turkules is the son and future lord of the realm of Gobbledonia; the most powerful political rival of Roostoria. In the time of the great battle against ORI and his minions, these two realms joined forces; and Turkules led a successful defense effort defeating ORI's armies and sending what was left of them back to the dark dimension from whence they came.
Upon return from the battlefield, Turkules was informed of Thunder Chicken's disappearance during his pursuit of Lord ORI. Roostoria sent a plea to all of Terra-Aves for volunteers to embark on a dangerous journey through time and space to rescue the Thunderous One. Although Turkules and Thunder Chicken were what you might call bitter-sweet rivals, the son of Gobbledonia reluctantly stepped forth to fulfill the request. He knew he was the only one with the ability to defy the odds of this suicide mission succeeding; and all of Terra-Aves knew this as well. Turkules truly was the only Terravesian who rivaled Thunder Chicken's "heroic perfection." A number of individuals volunteered but Turkules insisted on going alone. His motives for accepting the quest had less to do with the rescue and more to do with sparing others the need to risk their tail feathers on account of Thunder Chicken's failure. So, at a time when Turkules would have been celebrated for his great triumph, he was off to save Terra-Aves' most beloved hero.
During a difficult and draining search, Turkules passed through a temporary portal leading to our Earth. Here, Thunder Chicken was discovered; engaged in a harrowing battle and on the losing end. Turkules was able to intervene saving Thunder Chicken's life. Just then, Turkules realized that hundreds of Earthlings had been placed in grave danger as a result of the confrontation. The portal was about to close; he was faced with the choice of dashing through the portal, Thunder Chicken under-wing, or saving the lives of the Earthlings. He made the only choice he knew to make...
As the portal closed, Turkules' ears were filled with cheers and words of appreciation and admiration, but it wasn't exactly the celebration for which he had hoped. The Earthlings were safe, but he had lost the only way back to Terra-Aves and Gobbledonia. Now, trapped on Earth along with his long-time rival, Turkules must combine powers with Thunder Chicken to fight the evils that face Earth while searching for a way home.
