the CyBorganisms
Dr. Ciaran Blanc, the world's premiere expert in the field of cybernetic engineering, desired fame, fortune and power as a reward for his brilliance. When he was unable to realize this reward working for Freeman Fleat, he turned to STarmorfish who promised him more than he could even imagine. Distorted by his desires, Dr. Blanc began work on an army of mechanical menaces which STarmorfish planned to use for world domination.
Upon completion of the most advanced and powerful of these menaces, RobOrca, STarmorfish sent the beast into the world for a test run. Armed with advanced firepower and defense systems, RobOrca leveled many cities on a rampage of destruction throughout the world eventually reaching the town of Chamonix, France; the hometown of Dr. Blanc. Despite pleas from Ciaran, STarmorfish would not call off the attack. Chamonix was destroyed as a French battalion attempted to thwart the efforts of RobOrca. Many of Ciaran's friends and family were left homeless and without hope. Witnessing this devastation would change Ciaran's outlook on life forever.
Feeling he could no longer profit from the pain and misery of others, Dr. Blanc escaped from STarmorfish's underwater lair and hid away in his mother's homeland of Ireland. He vowed to repay the world for the damage and heartbreak his actions had caused. Knowing that STarmorfish would hunt him down, Ciaran hastily began work on a small group of cyborgs as protection. Furthermore, he programmed each of his creations with an inner drive to protect the innocent and fight for the good of the world.
As he was in the process of completing the most advanced, and intended leader, of his cyborgs, Ciaran's worst fears were realized. STarmorfish located him and sent RobOrca with the objective of capturing Dr. Blanc in order to force him into finishing the job he started. The sinister sea star would stop at nothing to have his mechanical army.
Ciaran's team of cyborgs fought valiantly but it was not enough. RobOrca took advantage of their inexperience as a team, decimated the hidden lab and, in the process, inadvertently eliminated Dr. Blanc and destroyed his incomplete creation. Ciaran and the intended leader of the team were lost. Now, without a leader to guide them, this dysfunctional group struggles to find their way as a team to carry on, as programmed by their creator, with their mission to protect as the CyBorganisms.
The Lethal Lepus
The first to be completed, the Lethal Lepus was designed as a personal bodyguard for Dr. Blanc. He has been programmed with many forms of martial arts, small weapons use and hand-to-hand combat training and has vastly superior reflexes and speed. A state-of-the-art hydraulic system allows him to leap distances exceeding 100 feet and also gives him a catastrophically damaging "super kick" ability. His whiskers have been replaced with antennae so sensitive that he is able to feel the slightest change in air vibration; this gives him the ability to sense any blindside attacks as well as to "see" in a pitch black environment with no hindrance whatsoever.
Following the death of Dr. Blanc, Lepus reluctantly assumed the lead position of the CyBorganisms. Designed as a personal bodyguard, he projects an air of authority but struggles with his confidence to lead the team; however, having been the only member with extensive exposure to the Doctor, the Lethal Lepus feels a responsibility to do his best to lead as his creator would have seen appropriate.
The Lemming
You wouldn't know it just looking at him (standing less than two feet tall) but the Lemming may be the most formidable member of the CyBorganisms. Powered by his nuclear battle gloves, the Lemming can stand nose to toe with almost any foe. He was created shortly after Lepus and the two quickly bonded as brothers.
Noticing that his first creation tended to tire after prolonged activity, Dr. Blanc decided to build the Lemming with an internal nuclear power source which feeds from his gloves to the rest of his cybernetic body. This makes for an inexhaustible warrior; but if the Lemming were to have his gloves removed, his extraordinary strength and fighting ability would be greatly reduced.
Being created in the early phase of project CyBorganisms, the Lemming has learned to deal with the many personalities on the team. He is closest to Lepus, but often serves as the peacemaker of the group. He is trusted unquestionably by each of his teammates and left without Lepus or Ibex to lead them, all would follow the guidance of the Lemming.
IBEX
Calm, contemplative, a bit mysterious, and highly intelligent; Ibex was designed as the brains and strategist of the CyBorganisms. His electronic brain is the most advanced artificial intelligence ever created consisting of a dual local processing system allowing for two separate and equal mental capacities controlled by one personality. Having this unusual configuration serves several functions. It gives him the ability to literally upgrade himself by placing one half of his brain into a sleep mode while it is upgraded by the other half. Also, with the option of alternating sleep states between the hemispheres of his brain, Ibex doesn't require prolonged downtime or actual sleep. He is the only CyBorganism with wireless access to the rest of the team; coupling this with a dual-functioning brain, he is able to send multiple orders at once during battle. Finally, it's quite possible that if one half of his brain were to be completely destroyed, Ibex could still function perfectly well.
There is a downside to Ibex's amazing intellectual abilities. Although he has stated he would never violate their trust, many of his teammates are uneasy with the fact that he can wirelessly access their thoughts which tends to fuel the dysfunction of the team. Also, a potential danger has been theorized by some regarding Ibex's duel brain; at some point, should the two logics disagree, it is feared that Ibex's personality may fracture and cause unfortunate and devastating results.
Trench
While studying abroad in South America, young cybernetic engineering student Ciaran Blanc was driving home from the university late one night when he suddenly hit a bump in the road. When he peeked in his rearview mirror, he noticed he had hit an armadillo which had been thrown into a trench at the side of the road after impact. The poor creature was still alive but badly injured. Ciaran's compassion for animals wouldn't let him drive off. He carefully scooped up the near lifeless animal and rushed back to his lab at the university where he stabilized the armadillo and began frantically gathering cybernetic parts to improve its condition. Ciaran worked throughout the night and took the armadillo home the next morning. Over the years, Ciaran continued his cybernetic improvements of the armored critter keeping him as a pet of sorts. Ciaran began affectionately calling the little guy "Trench" and the two grew quite fond of one another.
After years of hard work, Dr. Ciaran Blanc became one of the top cybernetic engineers in the world. When the need arose to develop the CyBorganisms, Trench was integrated into the team. Dr. Blanc made adjustment to his design to be the defensive unit of the team. Trench can expand a virtually indestructible shell to protect
Quillz
Strong willed and brash, Quillz was the last of the CyBorganisms to be activated and she has no issues with letting others know that she is the most advanced as well.
She is an accomplished survivalist and the teams surprising aquatic combatant; but Quillz' main function is as an offensive juggernaut. Her quills are highly specialized and serve multiple functions including simple daggers, underwater assault weapons, and a vast array of missiles. She generates and regenerates these quills as needed essentially making her a living, breathing, walking weapons factory. This process requires a massive amount of fuel and has led to Quillz having a voracious appetite with a special penchant for salt.
Quillz' snap judgments and high self-confidence are the source of almost constant tension with the Lethal Lepus.
Knowing that Lepus struggles with his position as team leader, she is quick to vocalize her opinion that, as the most advanced of Dr. Blanc's creations, she would make a stronger and more effective leader of the CyBorganisms.
Peregrine
Peregrine was designed as the transportation and escape unit for Dr. Blanc and the team but also specializes in aerial assault and reconnaissance. Built for speed, he is based on the combination of F-15 and F-16 fighter jets including a weapons system comprised of high caliber machine guns and an array of missiles; all of which are contained and deployed from his wings. He is also capable of close combat with the option of striking with his hardened wings or tearing through opponents with his razor sharp titanium talons.
The Black Owl
The Black Owl holds the distinction of being the only CyBorganism to be collaboratively created by Dr. Blanc and Ibex and was designed to be the monitoring unit of the team; the intention being to give Dr. Blanc as much advanced notice of STarmorfish's imminent arrival as possible. She is equipped with a variety of surveillance and spy systems on par with top military-grade equipment. Her optical units are capable of shooting high resolution photos and video at nearly half a mile away and are also equipped with infrared and night vision settings. She maintains a multi-satellite uplink which allows for global positioning, internet access, and data transfer at incredible rates which allows her to instantly transmit messages, photos, videos, etc., back to base or directly to Ibex.
Owl's seemingly normal feathers are perhaps her most amazing technical feature. Developed by Ibex, her feathers absorb sound waves which are converted into power which generates a limitless energy supply. It also renders her invisible to any sonic radar as sound is absorbed rather than repelled to return to the radar system. She is also fitted with retractable blades which are deployed from the edge of each of her wings which can be used while in flight or as a close-range fighting tactic if need be.
Peregrine's "feathers" are made of a light weight, organic plastic polymer which forms an airtight seal over his skin. It is extremely durable and has nearly zero thermal/electrical conductivity which allows him to venture into virtually any environment without fear of damage. He is also the fastest known living being on Earth reaching speeds up to Mach 2 (1500 mph).
Peregrine is one of the most caring of the CyBorganisms and often aids Ibex in medically treating the team. During battle, it may be perceived at times that he is cowardly as he is almost always the first to suggest retreat. This doesn't stem from fear but from his commitment to protect his cyborg companions. He may be the first to suggest retreat, but Peregrine would also be the first to risk his life to save any of the CyBorganisms.
himself as well as others in his immediate vicinity. He is fitted with an exceptionally durable copper-based armor which he can electrically charge up to 20,000 volts and has a high tolerance for heat. Trench also has the ability to launch himself into a spherical projectile with devastating results.
Trench lost his naturally poor eyesight when he was struck by Ciaran's car all those years ago. To compensate, his hearing and keen sense of smell have been extraordinarily enhanced giving him the ability to ascertain his surroundings as if he can see. He also has no voice of his own and has been equipped with a state-of-the-art recording and playback system in order to communicate. This gives him the ability to mimic sounds and voices he has heard which also proves useful when a diversion or deceptive tactics are necessary.
Personally, Trench serves as the group's comic relief. The love that his longtime companion, Ciaran Blanc, showed him over the years encouraged him to approach life with a positive attitude. He was crushed when Dr. Blanc was taken from him and the team (probably more so than any of them), but it has fueled his desire to remain positive to honor the Doctor.
The Black Owl is often away from the rest of the team on surveillance missions which has led to her being the most solitary member of the CyBorganisms. She has grown accustomed to being alone and has developed a very Zen-like persona. She does, however, enjoy the company of Ibex, her creator, from time to time. With her nocturnal nature and his absence of the need for sleep, they have spent many long nights just the two of them which has fostered a strong bond between them.
