Captain Crustacean

In the hopes of increasing sales in the restaurant division of his global enterprise, Freeman Fleat experimented with what he believed to be an enhanced growth hormone which would increase the size of his lobsters supplying him with higher quantities of meat. Little did he know how well this "growth hormone" would do the job.

Shortly after injecting a test lobster, the animal began to experience a strange and amazing metamorphosis. Throughout the night, the lobster went through periods of extreme growth spurts. His mind quickly evolved and began producing human-like thoughts. "Why am I in this holding tank? Am I some sort of prisoner?" He noticed another lobster in the tank that was nearly twice his size but was motionless.

He quickly realized he was in a bad situation. As his strength increased and his thoughts began to clear, he decided he had to make a break for it. The lobster took a look at his oversized claws, pulled back as much as possible within the tank that was becoming cramped, and unloaded a haymaker that shattered the glass and sent him bodysurfing to freedom. He scurried to a vent near the floor and just before exiting the lab, he took a look back at his lifeless tank buddy. It was too late for his unfortunate partner. A scientist then scooped up the limp creature and ran out of the lab in a fit of excitement. The escaping crustacean silently vowed to see that justice would be served.

As he made his way through the ventilation system, the lobster continued his occasional growth spurts and intellectual evolution and eventually realized he developed the power to fly! He came upon a vent to a room in which a television was playing a program about America and the history of Patriotism. A Navy Captain was discussing what it takes to be a Hero;

"'We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal...' 'I have a dream...' 'Every citizen should be a soldier...' These are the remarkable individuals that made this country great. We desperately need that next individual, that next HERO, to rise up and make this country great again."

These statements resonated within the lobster's constantly evolving mind. He could clearly see a country of which to be proud, and a society worth protecting. He became determined to find his way out and to discover the truth about his transformation.

As he neared the top of the building, he heard a familiar voice from another vent. "I know that voice" he thought. "It's the man responsible for pushing the needle through my skin." Fleat was discussing plans with an associate to cause incredible devastation along the coastal waters of San Francisco. "I must see that he doesn't succeed" he thought. Realizing he was near the top of the building, the now fully-evolved crustacean made a choice. Feeling stronger than ever, he squatted down and then launched himself straight up into the air crashing through the roof of the building. Upon reaching the outside, he noticed the Star-Spangled Banner flying high and proud atop the Fleat Enterprises high rise. "Fleat isn't fit to fly our country's colors" he said to himself. He flew to the flag post, removed the flag and donned it as his cape before flying off to stop Fleat's plan.

Now, with enhanced strength, the power of flight, a bulletproof shell and bone-crushing claws, this transformed lobster fights with will power and determination the likes of which have never been witnessed. He will forever fight for justice and liberty and to protect the innocents of the world against all evil as the amazing Captain Crustacean!
