Komodo Khan

Long Wu was born during the Ming dynasty of China in the year 1620 to two loving parents. His father served in the Ming Navy and was in and out of war during the Sino-Dutch conflicts. From 1622 to 1633 he served under Admiral Zheng Zhilong, a former pirate recruited by the Ming in order to avoid the need to defeat him in battle. On his hiatuses from battle, Wu's father would share fantastic stories of pirate adventures he had heard from his boastful Admiral. Wu dreamed of one day following in his father's path to glory as a brave naval warrior.

Tragedy would find its way into young Wu's life at the age of thirteen. During the Battle of Liaoluo Bay, a successful campaign against the Dutch lasting three and a half months, eighty Ming sailors lost their lives. The news was delivered to Wu and his mother that his father was one of them.

While the whole of the Ming Dynasty celebrated what officials hailed as a "miracle at sea," Wu's family crumbled. His mother fell into a deep depression and was unable to provide for Wu and herself. He made every attempt to find work and make a living for both of them, but at his young age, not many would give him much opportunity. The two eventually lost their home and Wu embarked on the life of a thief stealing food, clothing, and anything else they needed to survive on the streets. They were ridiculed and treated horribly by the townspeople. Wu's dream to become a brave naval warrior was all but forgotten.

It wasn't long before Wu's life of crime caught up to him. While attempting to steal a loaf of bread, he was caught red-handed. His mother immediately stepped in and took responsibility for his actions. She pleaded for mercy due to their grave situation but it was not to be. They served no purpose in the eyes of the townspeople and had now resorted to stealing from the productive members of society. They were banished from the town in yet another cruel twist of fate.

Months later, with nowhere to call home, they continued to wander the war-torn countryside when they happened upon a rebel band of Manchurian foot soldiers. The leader of these brutes thought nothing of it as his men beat the two for fun. When the assault ended, Wu's mother would lie motionless before his horrified eyes; she did not survive the attack. He was again the victim of unbelievable cruelty. The unit moved on leaving Wu standing alone and beyond the depths of any sadness he had ever faced in his young and troubled life. Wu then seemingly vanished from the earth. There are many rumors as to his fate that day. All that is known for sure is that it would be his last day as the Long Wu he had always been known to be.

Seven years later, a robed man re-entered the town that had cast his mother and him aside banishing them from the only home they had known. Just moments later, that man stood alone in a field of fire; no structures left standing, no survivors. Long Wu, from this day forward would come to be known as the Sorcerer of Death. He became a being of unspeakable power mercilessly spreading his mystical brand of chaos throughout the land releasing the rage that had built inside for the atrocities he had endured for so long. He reclaimed the land where his hometown once stood and dared anyone to challenge him; but even the most powerful rulers of the time refused to send man or beast to "The Land of Walking Death."

Wu had suffered by death's side for much of his life; but no man can walk beside death forever, and it was a fear of death that prompted him to perform an ancient curse upon himself known as the Curse of the Dragon Bones. This curse endows its victim with the body of a human/dragon hybrid and eternal agelessness; however, the victim's soul remains trapped inside the bones of his previous body. From this point, whosoever possesses these bones controls the power of the dragon. This was the beginning of the living legend known as Komodo Khan, the most powerful dark sorcerer of all time.

Komodo Khan had achieved the immortality he had desired, but shortly after cursing himself with his new form, Komodo realized the danger of allowing his enemies to gain possession of his bones. He immediately went into hiding and is now something of folklore. He currently carries his bones in the form of a mystical staff keeping himself in control of his own actions and only emerges from hiding in search of ancient artifacts and spells that may one day return him to his human form. He is extremely meticulous and methodical. When he makes his presence known, he has already calculated that he will not fail because he is fully aware that one failure in battle risks his eternal damnation to the bones.
